Learning tango is like learning a language.
To learn a different language it is not enough to just learn some
single words or simple phrases; it is the same with learning the
tango. We need much more than just "steps" or "figures". Tango has its
own grammar. When we study the technique of the dance, we can
understand how it works and then we will be able to express our
feelings through the music (The improvisation)
Agustina & Claudio has been teaching together intensively for the last
10 years.
Having been aware of the problems that students face, Agustina &
Claudio developed a vocabulary of "figures" and movements that can be
easily applied to the social dancing.
Each of these figures works as an example to see every technique in
detail and to recognize the general elements of the dance, at the same
time, these figures help to incorporate the vocabulary
("steps","figures").
As the classes proceed, the student can visualize and understand how
the smallest number of elements can create infinite combinations in
the dance (as the alphabet create all the known words)
Agustina & Claudio, developed a series of individual exercises, which
are incorporated in each of the classes, and those will help to
improve with the technique of the dance, as well as then be able to
succeed in performing the particular figure taught in that class.
Agustina & Claudio's main focus in teaching are: The Posture, The
walk, The Communication, Dissociation, Balance and Musicality.
Their classes are an evolution of coherent work, where classes
are progressive and the more complex material is added to the
movements that already have been taught.
With this method the student not only reviews and practices what
already has been taught, but also, has examples of how to combine the
different figures, thus, developing his improvisation skills.
